Terry George
Terry is a retired banker/financial planner. He was born at Bright Vic. near the Ovens River and started fishing with his grandpa when he could walk. Terry is a keen fisher, a conservationist and strong environmentalist, whose passion for our highcountry streams and valuable fisheries enticed him to a committee position with the Australian Trout Foundation (ATF) in 2013 and to the presidency in 2015. Terry is an active member of the following stakeholders: Australian Trout Foundation Inc (president); Victorian Recreational Fishers Leaders Forum; Victorian Trout Reference Group; Victorian Freshwater Fish Habitat & Flows Forum; Victorian Fisheries Translocation Evaluation Panel; The Upper Ovens Platform Steering Group, and the Committee to help the critically endangered spotted tree frog. Under Terry's leadership the Mission of the ATF became "To protect, maintain and enhance the health of our waterways and fisheries for future generations. The ATF has approx. 1,000 members and volunteers and its volunteer committee works closely with recreational fishers, members, clubs, supporters, and of course works in partnership with the Victorian Fisheries Authority, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Catchment Management Authorities, Arthur Rylar Institute, Landcare and other stakeholders. The common aim being to enhance the health of our precious and valuable fisheries and to restore the health of the environment in and surrounding our waterways.
