James R Grove
James Grove is a Senior lecturer in the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Melbourne University teaching River Management and Spatial Science. He is also a independent consultant in fluvial geomorphology. He has been involved in devising how river physical form has been assessed in Victoria (ISC), Tasmania (TRCI) and the Murray-Darling Basin (SRA).
He is currently working for DESI in Queensland advising on the management of rivers in relation to fluvial geomorphology. As part of this he helped develop the Aquatic Ecosystem Rehabilitation Process and the Attribute-Based River Classification. James is also investigating the use of LiDAR to inform on geomorphic changes in Victoria from 2010-2022. He was also part of the Rivers of Gold ARC project, looking at the consequences of historic gold mining across Victoria. These findings have been included as part of his assessment of sand aggradation in the Barmah Choke.
