Isabelle Flook 11th Australian Stream Management Conference 2024

Isabelle Flook

Izzy is a catchment scientist living on the southernmost river of the Northern Rivers region. Following the 2022 floods, she was involved in prioritising flood resilience projects for communities across the flood-affected region, undertaking extensive community engagement within the 7 LGAs as part of this process. In the last two years, she's been involved in applied research in the field of Natural Flood Management - undertaking an extensive literature review into the effectiveness of NFM approaches in different landscape contexts. She was also involved in designing and now implementing flood resilience works on Upper Warrill Creek in SEQ, as a second part of that same project. Her presentation illuminates one aspect of this breadth of recent flood-related experience, which she hopes will improve how we think about and implement NFM in practice.
